Your documents are kept on your phone. Nothing leaves it unless you share it or make a backup. Filome works without the internet.
Backups only you can open
A backup is locked with your passphrase and a recovery key before it leaves the phone (AES-256). Filome's server keeps the locked copy and cannot read it.

Questions people ask.
Can Filome's team see my documents?
No. Your documents are on your phone. A cloud backup is locked on your phone with your own key before it is sent, and the server only keeps the locked copy. Without your passphrase or recovery key, nobody can open it, including us.
What if I lose my phone?
Install Filome on the new phone, choose "Restore from a backup", and use your backup file or sign in to your cloud backup with your passphrase or recovery key. Keep your recovery key somewhere safe, away from the phone.
What if I forget my passphrase?
Use your recovery key instead. If both are lost, a backup cannot be opened by anyone. That is what keeps it private.
Do I need an account?
No. Filome works fully without one. An account (just your e-mail address, with a code, no password) is only for cloud backup and paid plans.
Does it work without the internet?
Yes. Scanning, keeping, finding and sharing all work offline. Only cloud backup and signing in need the internet.
Can I use it on two phones?
An account is used on one phone at a time. Signing in on a new phone signs the old one out, so two phones never overwrite each other's backup.
